Our world is constantly shifting and we as teachers need to shift with it. Look back five years and an inclusive classroom manifested itself in a completely different way as it does today. The agent leading much of this change being described as both a driver and enabler of knowledge and skill in the classroom is technology and digital information. A great teacher needs to rise to the challenge of embracing that change by becoming a successful classroom leader through a combination of ever increasing knowledge and elevating experiences (Walling, 1994). The ever-changing quintessential nature of technology often has resulted in many schools and teachers being resistant to adapting and changing their pedagogy to be in accord with the latest ideas, improvements, or styles, however positive they may be. The idea of uprooting ones traditional teaching knowledge and placing trust in technology to help shape future learning can be a frightful thought however, I truly believe a curriculum that surrounds and synthesizes Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences with visioning technology will plot a course that makes certain we as teachers are taking a step towards creating a fully inclusive classroom that caters for all learners’ needs now in the 21st century.
This page caters to teachers, on a worldwide scale, as it outlines Gardner’s eight different intelligences and links traditional learning approaches to meaningful complimentary digital strategies, tools, and activities.
I created this resource with the hopes of removing the deficit label that often is applied to technology by breaking down each intelligence and adding a digital resource that can be easily adapted into a teachers pedagogy with cause and effect. This will hopefully, in turn, help remove the barriers that stand in the way of integrating technology and digital information into the classroom.
